About this site
The Diffraction is a publication that aims to report on the live music industry to the benefit of attendees, bands, and venues alike. It’s a delicate ecosystem. We aim to cover the big and the small, with a clear understanding that there are real differences between a local DIY show, the Taylor Swift juggernaut, and the Phish/jam band experience. We will do our best to cover these meaningful differences. Its proprietor is Keith O'Brien.
If you subscribe today, you'll get full access to the website as well as email newsletters about new content when it's available. Your subscription makes this site possible, and allows The Diffraction to thrive. Thank you!
Coverage
We plan to offer a mix of serious, semi-serious, and not-so-serious content about live music, the bands that play it, the venues that host it, and the audience members who devote their precious free time to witnessing it. We take the topic seriously, but we want to have fun with it.
Frequency
The Diffraction will hit your inbox at least two times a week. As it grows, we'll explore different ways to cover this industry more frequently while being mindful of your inboxes. We reserve the right (which we will probably use!) to occasionally publish stuff just to the web, so we don't risk your ire while following our creativity wherever it leads.
Tiers
Our plan is to always offer a free tier of The Diffraction*. And at this very moment in time, everything is free. But eventually, there will be a paid tier, in which we hope to offer many extras, bonuses, goodies, and prizes.
